Honey Pie
Pascale brought the song and I had the idea doing a double time on it, quite literally...what ensued was a wonderful collaboration between all of us ... pure honey
Tango
Originally written for my kids as part of a children's album as Sibling Tango. Pascale’s great lyric lifted it to another dimension.
Intro to Soulful
Charles came up with this great lick and we just had to do something with it
Soulful
Written for my Soul-brother Premik.
Lily
Originally my wonderful buddy Beat had a Renaissance Jazz project. It never came to fruition but this song certainly stuck. What a beautiful melody and lyrics straight from the witty poetry of Ben Jonson’; music by Robert Johnson and myself, Hail to the Lute songs of the long ago yesteryear
Norwegian Wood (This bird has flown) Lennon/McCartney
An all-time favourite of mine, I did it a long time ago in a trio setting which inspired this arrangement - Charles funky riff just added the Cherry on top
Song (for Maya)
Written for my girl when I didn’t even know I’ll have her. Only whence she came to pass did the music make sense.
Turkish
Originally part of music for a Paganini musical. This was the Turkish version inspired by his op.24
Where
I am indebted to Beat to bringing out so much in this song with his great lyric. This was our only take .... nothing else needed to be done.
TANGO
Lyrics: PASCALE ELIA
CON ALMA YO CANTO
MI LETRA DE PASSION
QUIZA EL SENDERO
PARA MI SALVACION
EL QUE ME HA HERIDO
MI DULCE CORAZON
NO SABE QUE SIENTO
AMOR Y COMPASION
PERMITA QUE EXPRESE
VERDAD Y EMOCION
A VER SI CONSIGUE
MI NUEVA VIBRACION
CON MI ALMA CANTO
NO TENGO PRETENSION
SIGO EL PIANO
CADENCIA Y COMPADRON
UNA CORRIDA, UNA VUELTA,
CANTO
UNA SENTADA,
CANTO
QUE PINTA, QUE ELEGANCIA,
CANTO
QUE PORTE, QUE SILUETA,
TANGO !
Conta…
VIDA ANCESTRA, ANGUSTIA,
CANTO
CUERPO Y ALMA, LOCA,
CANTO
AHORA, VIDA, PRESENCIA,
CANTO
ESPERANZA, ALEGRIA
TANGO !
Where
Lyrics Beat Kaestli
Where can I run to
Should you turn a-way
From me and my shadows
Where sleeping dogs lay
Where can I hide from
The world and her sorrow (an unforgiving world)
If you should decide
To change your tomorrow
Who'll understand
My unspoken pleas
And what can you say
When words loose their way
Time heals all wounds
Let those sleeping dogs lay
A day with-out you
Is like life with-out meaning Where can I run to
Should you turn a-way
Where can I hide from
The world and her sorrow Who'll understand
My unspoken pleas
And what can you say
When words loose their way
Time heals all wounds
Let those sleeping dogs lay
